Content Delivery Network (CDN) Leader Supports Online Video and
Over-the-Top (OTT) Services
TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Limelight
Networks, Inc.(“Limelight”) (Nasdaq:LLNW), a global leader
in digital content delivery, today announced the Limelight OrchestrateTM
(“Orchestrate”) Video service is helping Calkins Media drive their
business by increasing the use of video, including 4K video, and an
expanding OTT subscription service for its five newspapers.
“We need flexible and easy-to-use solutions that allow our reporters to
upload their own videos,” said Jai Vyas, Director of Digital Innovation
and Strategy, Calkins Media. “Limelight’s APIs are the most flexible
I’ve seen and provides a user interface that is simple to use, both of
which make a tremendous difference to our business.”
Over the past few years, Calkins has increasingly added to and refined
its video strategy to increase market penetration and customer
engagement. Three years ago, the company began offering OTT
subscription-based, on-demand content. Using the Orchestrate Video
platform, Calkins delivers high quality video to every type of digital
device. Recently, they experienced a 300-400 percent increase in views
following the addition of more video and a change in the news format of
its apps. The Orchestrate Video platform allows them to scale to meet
this increasing demand.
“Calkins began decades ago as a traditional media company and they are
continuously embracing new technologies to evolve their company,” said
Kevin Odden, group vice president of sales at Limelight. “It’s been
exciting to help them as they’ve developed an OTT strategy and continued
to refine and improve their use of video to report news.”
